About
Felix (Felicien) Gustav Charles Blackman
Yes - thats my name.
Felix Blackman grew up in Paddington, Sydney, in the 1980s — son of artists Geneviève de Couvreur and Charles Blackman, and brother of Bertie Blackman. Art was the family language.
He studied at UNSW College of Fine Arts before graduating from the Billy Blue School of Graphic Arts with a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication in 2006, taking out the Green Carrot Award for most creative graduating student.
In 2007 he moved to Tasmania to study architecture at the University of Tasmania. A bursary took him to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture in Copenhagen in 2010–11, and he graduated with a Master of Architecture in 2012.
Felix spent over a decade at Birrelli art+design+architecture, working as both graphic designer and graduate architect. In 2018 he founded his own practice, which has since become BlackmanEdwards Architects (BE-A) — a studio with offices in Launceston and Hobart.
He also serves as a Director of the Charles Blackman Foundation, alongside his siblings, tending to his father's legacy.
Felix lives in Launceston with his wife Amelia Padgett, their daughter Margaux Ellen, and Tippy the Cairn Terrier.
